Yay! Venezuela's Jonathan Moly is Nominated for a Latin AMA!

MNGBlog has been listening to Jonathan Moly's "Sayonara" all summer long! A collaboration with Puerto Rican salsa singer Jerry Rivera, it hit No. 1 in Venezuela and on Billboard's Tropical chart, was No. 1 for 11 consecutive weeks on Colombia's Tropical chart, and hit the top 3 in Mexico and top 5 in Ecuador.

It was just announced this week that the 23-year-old Caracas-born singer has been nominated for a Latin American Music Award in the Favorite New Tropical Artist category. It's the first time he has been nominated for an American award.

He shared this heartwarming post on Instagram after he got the good news:

"I'm going to confess something to you, today my day hadn't begun very well/good and let's say I wasn't in a very good mood," he said in the post. "I got up and I just wanted night to come to go home and go to sleep so this day would end...Later I receive a call at 3:17 PM from my manager with the news that I was nominated for the Latin American Music Awards and my day completely changed. Now I don't want this day to end of so much excitement that I have for this news. Sometimes one thinks about how long it takes to begin to achieve important things and actually, I have been waiting for that call that my manager made to me for more than the five years that I have been a singer. This is the beginning of something very important for me and today I go to bed with a smile from ear to ear. This is for you, Venezuela."

Jonathan is the son of singer-songwriter Miguel Moly, and as such has been involved in music since the early age of 4. He also recently participated in Telemundo's online series El Maestro, during which he was mentored by Luis Enrique.

For the last few months, Moly has been on tour in Colombia and on Saturday, September 3, he will perform in Barranquilla with the beloved Venezuelan duo Chino y Nacho.

The Latin American Music Awards take place on October 6 at 8pm/7c on Telemundo. Don't forget to vote at telemundo.com.
