If you've never heard of Boogát, it's about time you did.

Born in Québec City, Boogát is a rapper of Paraguayan and Mexican descent that brilliantly blends hip-hop with cumbia and reggaeton sounds.

Although he is now based in Montreal, Boogát recently spent a year living in Mexico City on a personal journey to connect with his parents' culture. It was those experiences and the connection he developed with the international musicians he met here that informed his newest album, San Cristóbal Baile Inn.

Released in October, San Cristóbal Baile Inn is Boogát's third studio album and celebrates the world's immigrants and travelers. Fittingly, the album's title carries the name of Saint Christopher (San Cristóbal), the patron saint of travelers.

Comprising twelve tracks, the sonically vibrant album is written entirely in Spanish and, despite the fact that it is politically driven, remains uplifting and party-oriented and contains something for every taste. From the melodic yet dynamic punch of the opening track "Sabes Muy Bien" to the sunny celebration of "Mezcalero Feliz" to the French vibes of "Au revoir méxico," this album is a must-listen, not just for fans of Latin music and hip-hop, but for all music lovers. (Stream San Cristóbal Baile Inn on Spotify here.)

Boogát also recently released the official music video for the track "Tanto Tattoo" featuring Mexican rapper Niña Dioz. Old school and hard-hitting with a delicious boom bap sound, it serves as a commentary on tattoos, showcasing the beauty they hold, the perceptions they stir up, and the prejudices that those who carry them face. Watch below.

Boogát is set to perform at SXSW 2018. For all of his latest news and updates, follow him on social media:
