Jean Rodriguez and Danny Flores are the new masters of Caribbean soul.
Working together for over a decade, the two music industry veterans joined forces in a whole new way in 2016, forming a pioneering bilingual, bicultural artist-production duo that they call COASTCITY. Since dropping their first single "Noches y Mañanas," a soulful rock/Caribbean fusion co-written with award-winning songwriter Claudia Brant, the pair has steadily begun to cement their place in listeners hearts, winning a spot on Pandora's "2018 Latin Artists to Watch" list and receiving placements on playlists across streaming platforms.
On Friday COASTCITY finally dropped their self-titled debut EP and we are here for it. Written, produced, and engineered by the pair themselves, the seven-track collection features their rhythmic singles "Desconocidos," a seductive tale about strangers and love at first sight that is also the beating heart of the EP; "Noches y Mañanas,"; and their latest, "Besos Pesos," a sultry R&B-driven track featuring Mexican diva Girl Ultra that supports female empowerment.
In addition, the EP also includes "Pa La Calle," the catchy opening track that's worthy of singing along to, as well as "Con La Luz," a sexy kizomba-laced jam featuring Angolan R&B artist Anselmo Ralph.
Among various performances over the past year, including appearances at Marc Anthony's Maestro Cares Gala and the Hispanicize conferences, COASTCITY made their successful formal debut earlier this month at LA's Echoplex and is now preparing to tour California and the U.S this summer. Watch the official music video for their latest single "Besos Pesos" below.
COASTCITY is now available on digital music platforms.
