A little bit of pop, a little bit of rock and roll, Los Angeles songstress Beck Pete speaks the truth, no matter how messy it is.
Pete recently released her new single "Gently Break It." Deliciously soulful and wonderfully funky, the song speaks to toxic, unhealthy relationships, in particular situations where someone convinces themselves that they are undeserving of love and romanticizes the idea of playing a victim.
"I have been that girl, and can’t say that I won’t be again," Pete says. "I’m just hoping that this song serves a reminder of that tendency, and spreads awareness to everyone who hears it that, one, they are not alone in this cycle and two, they can break it by believing they are worthy of something positive and healthy”.
Indeed, Pete convinces listeners to break the cycle in a totally receivable way. Listen to "Gently Break It" below.
