Music really can be the best medicine, and Iakopo’s delicious brand of feel-good jammin’ is just what the doctor ordered.

Born in California, eventually adopted and raised by a Samoan family on the South Pacific island of Upolu Samoa, and now currently residing between Tokyo, Miami, and Jamaica, the international reggae star has created Billboard-charting records with the Japanese singles “Break Free,” “Love Like This,” “When I See You Smile,” and “I Believe.”

On Friday, Iakopo delivered his latest release Waves, a brilliant energy-restoring, repeat-worthy collection of pure gems that conjure thoughts of sun, sand, and the refreshing sensation of cool ocean waves. Comprising 12 tracks, the album touches upon a variety of themes, providing commentary on the state of today’s world (“My Revolution”) while talking about spiritual growth (“Legends”) and celebrating love (“On” ft. Bo Napoleon).

“This album of work is particularly meaningful to me, because of the people I worked with,” Iakopo says. “I worked and recorded with the same people for the entire project, which was dope in the sense that we were able to build a continuity and flow with all the songs. Most of the songs were all created based on real life situations that I had  personally gone through. During the recording process it was real and very organic. I wanted to give a certain vibe to the project that could connect the energy of ideas of reggae music, and where it comes from in a real sense, and connect that with the urban listeners in America.”

Waves is now available on digital music platforms like Spotify. For all of Iakopo’s latest news and updates, follow him on social media:
