10 Throwback Jams from Our Favorite Boy Bands

Boy bands are certainly quite a phenomenon. Fans are often in it for the long haul and are some of the most devoted on the planet. Inspired by Billboard’s #BoyBandWeek, we decided to come up with a list of our favorite songs from some of the best boy bands ever (from the U.S.A. and mostly from the '90s).

“Candy Girl”-New Edition (1983)

Why We Picked It: This song is just adorable. It reminds us of “ABC” from the Jackson 5.

“Summer Girls”-LFO (1999)

Why We Picked It: Chinese food and Abercrombie & Fitch…When we think of the year 1999, this is the first song that comes to mind.

“MMMBop”-Hanson (1997)

Why We Picked It: Although most of the words to this track are unintelligible, taking a look at the lyrics in writing reveals that this Grammy-nominated song is actually pretty deep. There’s no denying that it was a huge hit back in the day.

“The Hardest Thing”-98° (1998)

Why We Picked It: One of the more soulful bands from the ‘90s, 98° brought it hard with this ballad.

“Poison”-Bell Biv DeVoe (1990)

Why We Picked It: That opening beat! Enough said.

“Tearin’ Up My Heart”-*NSYNC (1997)

Why We Picked It: *NSYNC was one of the major players in the famous battle of the boy bands during the '90s. If you weren’t Team Backstreet Boys, you were Team *NSYNC. “Tearin’ Up My Heart” was arguably one of their biggest hits, and definitely one of our favorites of theirs. Watch their performance below on TRL in 1998.

“You Got It (The Right Stuff)”-New Kids On the Block (1988)

Why We Picked It: This will always be one of the best from NKOTB. That dance though!

“Motown Philly”-Boyz II Men (1991)

Why We Picked It: Boyz II Men is undeniably one of the best vocal groups to have ever existed, at least in our humble opinion. Although it is sometimes forgotten about in favor of some of their super ballads like “End of the Road," this fun track, which was the first single released from their 1991 debut album CooleyHighHarmony, is a refreshing change of pace from their heavier material.

“I Want It That Way”-Backstreet Boys (1999)

Why We Picked It: Seriously, is there anyone on this planet who doesn’t know this song? From their record-breaking album Millennium, “I Want It That Way” was an instant worldwide hit.

“I Want You Back”-Jackson 5 (1969)

Why We Picked It: The Jackson 5 is THE BEST boy band ever, just sayin’. Check out their performance on Soul Train below!

Don Cornelius gives a small introduction, in which he mentions Jermaine's new solo album. The Jackson 5 then perform I Want You Back
