Get to Know Us: Watch For Horses

So-Cal quartet Watch For Horses' radiant brand of indie rock is beachy, nostalgic, and will quickly turn any first-time listener into a fan.

Working with producers Joshua Brooks and Jon O'Brien (Young the Giant) and Francois Comtois, Watch For Horses released their latest single "San Junipero" last month. The band told Musical Notes Global all about the track, why they love performing, and more in this questionnaire-style interview. Check it out below.

Here's the scoop on our new single "San Junipero": San Junipero is loosely based on an episode of a show called "Black Mirror" on Netflix. The song is meant to highlight the dynamic between two different personalities falling in love. The lyrics are meant to be from the perspective of the introvert, which I can sort of relate to. That's how it lead to the idea for a song.

If someone never heard our music before, we would describe our sound as: I think lately we've been described as 'so-cal sound or West Coast Alternative' which is pretty interesting, but at the end of the day we love playing whatever our version of rock music is.

As a band, we find our greatest inspiration in playing live. I think it's the one thing we can't get enough of. We absolutely love the connection and energy we can create with a crowd of friends and strangers.

We love performing live because there is this energy about it that can't be replicated in any other way. There's a connection you create with an audience that feels so free and kind of magical. If they start singing back to you, that's just the cherry on top.

Performing at the Vans Warped Tour was an experience that we will probably always cherish now that they will be closing up shop next year. It was a real fun time.

We love our fans because we don't exist without them and their support. It's inspiring.

When we're not singing, you can find us at Julian's House abusing his ability to make fancy cocktails with his bartending knowledge. Or at practice working on a set for an upcoming show.

Watch For Horses is Jeremiah Acosta, Joshua Borja, Julian Chavez, Ralph Tafoya, and Bryant Genuino. For all  of the band's latest news and updates, follow them on social media:
