Concert Preview: JD & The Straight Shot at City Winery NYC June 22

With a voice The New York Post says is "reminiscent of Tom Waits and Randy Newman," guitarist Jim Dolan leads New York City-based Americana band JD & The Straight Shot.

Also comprising bassist Byron House (Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton) and violinist/fiddler Erin Slaver (Martina McBride, Rod Stewart), JD & The Straight Shot will play a hometown show at City Winery this Thursday night, June 22. The show will wrap up their tour in support of their 2016 acoustic album Ballyhoo!, which included multiple dates with former Eagles frontman Don Henley.

The band, which blends Americana with elements of root music and classic rock, has played alongside acts like Keith Urban, the Dixie Chicks, Jewel, and Chicago, and are now working on a new album that features their single "I Know, You Know, I Know." Produced by Chuck Ainlay (Mark Knopfler, Miranda Lambert) and written by Dolan, Slaver, and Marc Copely (B.B. King, Roseanne Cash), the gorgeous ballad includes a contribution on the accordion by Shawn Pelton (Sheryl Crow, Levon Helm, Saturday Night Live band). Listen below.

Thursday night promises to bring an electric energy-filled show that will put their perfect harmonies and melodies on full display. Get tickets here.
