Alan Matheus is kicking off 2018 in the best way with his brand new single "I'm Feeling Good."
The upbeat track, which was written by Alan in collaboration with his brother Oliver and producer Matheus10, is a fresh departure from Alan's usual ballads. "The original version of the song included an acoustic piano by Oliver and an acoustic guitar by me. The music style was more like a soft rock," Alan revealed. "Later on we decided to change the style of the song to pop to make it more commercial. At that point we thought that it would be great to include a rap in order to bring more energy to the song."
Enter Aaron Bodden, Alan's former La Banda co-star who won over the judges with his rap skills and confidence. "Our first option on the list was definitely Aaron Bodden," he explained, "not only because he is a great rapper but because he is a great friend. We're very happy with the result. It's the first pop song that we write and we feel we have grown as artists by exploring into a different genre. This song has given us the confidence to continue exploring into different styles and genres."
This week, Matheus dropped the super sweet accompanying music video, which was filmed in various locations around the Miami area, including an art gallery in the city's Wynwood district and Hollywood Beach Boulevard. "When we met with my filmmaker cousin Agustin Seco Jr, the first thing that we considered when planning for the video was that we needed to work with a low budget since I'm still an independent artist and don't have any support from a music label," he said.
Going along with the carefree vibe of the track, the colorful video follows the Matheus brothers and Bodden on a day of adventures that culminates with a fun party at night. "We wanted to have some kind of party scene with people dancing to the song and therefore we came up with the idea of filming on the top of a vacant parking garage at night using the lights from several cars placed in semi-circular form. The song is about love and that is why we included scenes of Daniela with Oliver, Pamela with Aaron, and Annabella with me."
"We are so grateful for the amazing dancers Vanesa Seco and Elena Cruz that collaborated in the video giving a great spark to it," Alan added. "There were many good friends who came out to collaborate in that party scene and that only added to the fun."
