Los Angeles band The Sometimes Island is back with a brand new breakup anthem that’s sure to get stuck in your head.

Delectably synthy and rhythmic, “You Stole My Dog” is about a dog, a failed relationship, and all of the complicated feelings that you’d imagine would bubble to the surface when losing a significant other and a pet at the same time.

“I love dogs with all my heart, and I highly recommend adopting one. I adopted a dog with my ex, which I do not recommend. When we broke up, we were splitting custody of the little guy - a week on, and then week off,” the band’s frontman Matt Blakenship Jr. said. “She got pregnant with her new boyfriend, and they decided to move away and take the dog with them without really clearing that with me. I don't want to get into the messy details, but there was a lot of anger and hurt in that ugly time, and this song was born out of a need to vent those negative feelings.”

Taking listeners on a roller coaster ride of emotions, from frustration to sadness to hopelessness, “You Stole My Dog” serves as an excellent catharsis for anyone dealing with a breakup and the messy aftermath that follows. Listen below.
