Get to Know Me: Swey Diaz

Reggaeton has a new rising star, and his name is Swey Diaz.

Born in El Salvador, Swey made a huge splash in 2021 with his hit “Harley Quinn,” a collab with Puerto Rican urban artist Yagazaky, and he has continued to impact the Latin market ever since.

Last month, Swey teamed up once again with Yagazaky to release “Miéntele,” this time inviting Chilean star Simón La Letra to join the team. A song that Swey says is “dedicated to the bad girls,” “Miéntele” is an undeniable banger that reggaeton fans are sure to have on repeat, thanks in large part to the emerging sensation’s unmistakable flow, which shines bright alongside the talents of his prominent colleagues.

Learn more about Swey, the new single, and more in his Get to Know Me interview with Musical Notes Global below.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Swey Diaz and I am a Latin urban artist from El Salvador.

Here’s the scoop on my new single “Miéntele”: Yaga and I had already recorded the song a little while ago, but when Yaga and Mackie had a show in Chile, Yaga met Simon, and that's when the journey began because Simon liked the song. We planned everything and recorded the song and the video in Miami.

This is what I learned during the process:

I always learn something new in every project, and this time it was getting to know the guys not only as artists but as people. The most beautiful thing I took from that week we spent recording and sharing with everyone was several brothers who I proudly call family.

To me, this song represents going out to have a good time without caring about anyone's opinion.

I hope listeners have fun with the song. Whether you like it, learn it, and dance to it all the way down at the club, the boat, the beach, wherever you hear it.

When I’m on stage, I feel:

Before going on stage, I get very ervous and even nauseous, but when I'm up there, it's like the energy of the audience and the adrenaline turn me into another person. I start jumping, dancing, and interacting with the audience, and I love that. When I'm on stage, I don't want to come down.

Reggaeton is a lifestyle and personally one of the best ways I have to express myself and connect.

A party isn't a party without these reggaeton classics: Bad Bunny and Drake - "Mia," Bad Bunny - "Callaita," and Sech - "Otro Trago."

My hidden talent is:

I think it's grilling meat because I make really delicious barbecues.

For the rest of 2023, I’m planning to release more music and doing whatever shows come up.
