Mexican pop star Gloria Trevi brought her Diosa De La Noche tour to Radio City Music Hall on Saturday night, and it was an event worthy of experiencing over and over again.

The 24-date tour comes in support of Trevi’s album of the same name, a glamorous, empowering 12-track collection that celebrates life, living in the moment, and the electrifying excitement that only the nighttime can bring. To help deliver her message to thousands of people across the United States, the acclaimed singer and songwriter invited Colombian Latin urban star Karol G, winner of the 2018 Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, as her special guest on the tour.

Saturday’s show at the iconic New York City venue was a fierce display of self-empowerment and the strength that lies in womanhood. Immediately getting everyone up and dancing, Karol G opened with a mix of her biggest hits like “Culpables” and “Ocean” in addition to presenting a vibrant tribute to the beloved late recording artist Selena, performing crowd favorites “Como La Flor” and “Si Una Vez.”

As only a true goddess can, Trevi, who has been nicknamed the “Mexican Madonna,” triumphantly overtook the theater with ravishing elegance, seamlessly transitioning from a dynamic diva with songs like “Ábranse Perras” to a dark enchantress with “Que Me Duela” to a vulnerable songstress with numbers like “No Querías Lastimarme” in an endlessly compelling set that left everyone in attendance on the edge of their seats.

With her unique ability to own any stage she graces, it would have been enough to witness La Trevi alone with only a microphone in hand, but the sensational production took the show to a legendary new level. Iridescent, prismatic lighting and striking ethereal visuals incorporating galactic imagery enveloped Radio City in what felt like a cloud floating through the heavens—quite fitting considering the tour’s title translates to “Goddess of the Night.”

Trevi’s countless costume changes were absolutely captivating, and the sparkling, elaborate outfits—from sequin-encrusted body suits to dramatic jackets—reflected her dazzling inner radiance, illuminating the theater like the glow of a full moon. Aside from the show’s jaw-dropping opening, when she descended as an immortal being from a sky-high skirt-draped platform above the stage while singing “Diosa De La Noche,” one of the most impactful moments came at the end of the night, when she donned a glittering set of wings as she made a heartfelt speech about her freedom and noted that there is “a piece of God in each of us.”

Much to the excitement of fans, she also took the opportunity to transform into her alter ego “Mr. Trevi,” tugging at the heartstrings with her passion-filled hit “Como Yo Te Amo” dressed in a commanding top hat and black feather skirt.

The world of Latin music was in mourning on Saturday, as the news of José José’s untimely passing after a battle with pancreatic cancer was revealed earlier that day. As a tribute to the Mexican icon, after performing their collaboration “Hijoeput*#” on stage, Trevi and Karol G encouraged fans to applaud for one full minute to honor the life of an artist gone too soon.

The love that the audience poured forth at Radio City was inspiring. Rising to their feet multiple times to sing and dance along with Trevi, they helped make the night a successful adventure that will never be forgotten.

In short, Diosa De La Noche tour proves Gloria Trevi is a legitimate superstar. Not only is she Latin pop royalty but she is also a supreme figure in the world’s musical landscape who will be celebrated for decades to come.
