Multi-talented Venezuelan singer, songwriter, and producer Manu Manzo is a luminous testament to the transcendent power of art.

Known for her glowing spirit and relentless determination, Manzo grew up with the world as her playground, having been raised between multiple countries throughout her childhood. Those diverse cultures and sonic styles made a lasting impact on her musical mind—American jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald, Cuban salsa queen Celia Cruz, Spanish pop icon Alejandro Sanz, and soulful British powerhouse Amy Winehouse all found their way into her heart, and they continue to influence the artist she is today.

A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Manzo can now call herself a Latin Grammy nominee, and, more recently, she was nominated by Billboard as a “Latin Artist on the Rise” and by Pandora as part of their “Artist to Watch 2019” list. In October, the rising star released her new EP Después De Las 12, a collection that allows her inspiring, limitless creativity to shine brightly. Having penned all six tracks herself and serving as the executive producer, the EP conveys her extraordinary passion for her craft while also proving to be an incredibly personal project.

Lead single “Te Quiero Ver”—a collaboration with Colombian singer, songwriter, and producer Feid—is a melancholic but highly relatable song that speaks right to the heart and the yearning desire to be reunited with that special someone. Grounded by a steady rhythm, the song explores two perspectives, addressing the conflicts that can arise in romantic relationships by telling the story of an artist who is struggling to maintain a relationship with someone outside of the music industry.

Also included on the EP is the gorgeous piano-driven ballad “Apaga La Luz.” Boasting refreshingly honest lyrics, the track is heart wrenching yet empowering, with Manzo courageously proving that there is fierce strength that comes with taking control of one’s own life, leaving behind unhealthy relationships, and putting oneself first.

Continuing the theme of empowerment, “X La Ventana” is a merry feel-good anthem that makes the perfect soundtrack for any celebration. The song recently received a visual treatment in the way of an eclectic music video that mirrors its vibrant and scintillating essence. Filmed in Medellín, Colombia and produced by Nael and Justin, the video is colorful and captivating, following Manu, who is dressed in a variety of fun outfits, at a house party surrounded by friends. Together they are free to be themselves, let loose, and enjoy life.

While the title Después De Las 12 translates to “After 12 O’Clock,” whether that’s A.M. or P.M. is left to interpretation, meaning this EP will make the perfect companion at midnight, at lunchtime, or at any time of the day.

Next month, Manzo will perform at Chile’s prestigious Viña del Mar music festival. Listen to Después de Las 12 below.
