Australian Pop Starlet Phebe Starr Drops Stunning Debut Album Heavy Metal Flower Petal

Australian indie pop starlet Phebe Starr is back and better than ever, this week arriving with her highly anticipated debut album Heavy Metal Flower Petal.

Much like the title suggests, the album is a remarkable demonstration of growth and represents a significant juxtaposition in her life, contrasting the toughness and the softness that has come in the wake of her divorce and the personal journey that she has embarked on as a result.

“The whole album is about my process of letting myself feel things that I was afraid to,” she says. “It’s about letting myself be tender and vulnerable, learning how to incorporate the feminine into my narrative.”

Fans will be captivated by the striking vulnerability and honesty with which Starr has approached this project, beginning with the powerful opening track “Rollercoaster Man.” Also included on Heavy Metal Flower Petal are the spellbinding singles “Edelweiss,” “Air,” and, most recently, “Everything,” a warm and enveloping story with a funky rock edge that dives into the oftentimes intimidating concept of love and all of the complicated, all-consuming emotions that come with it. “A lot of my songs start from a visual place in my head,” the talented singer and songwriter notes, “with ‘Everything,’ I imagined myself walking through the dark matter of the universe as if getting lost in the gravitational pull of a black hole. That feeling was foreign and exhilarating to me, like the way you feel when falling in love.”

This year Starr also makes her long-awaited return to the renowned SXSW music festival with three performances in Austin:
