[INTERVIEW] Rising Latin R&B Sensation MKY Talks "Supo Amar" + Upcoming Album

At just 21 years old, rising Latin R&B sensation MKY is taking over with an irresistible sound that he dubs “Chicano soul.”

Having made his successful debut in the summer of 2021, MKY’s talent for authentic songwriting and his natural abilities as an authentic storyteller have quickly allowed him to stand out from his peers. Fusing the smoothest, most melodically romantic elements of R&B with honest lyricism, he’s captivating audiences one gut wrenching song at a time.

This spring MKY released his single “Supo Amar,” a song brimming with nostalgia and excruciating heartache and that harnesses the emotional power of traditional regional Mexican music. As do all of his songs, this intense track was inspired by his own personal and real life experiences, allowing fans to see the talented artist get raw and vulnerable while admitting his shortcomings in a failed relationship. “‘Supo Amar’ to me represents a new feeling and sound created by the mixture of Rnb Soul/Corrido. Blending the instruments and melodies together is what ‘Supo Amar’ is,” he told Musical Notes Global. “I hope my supporters can appreciate the lyrics, the voice, and the guitars! I’m very passionate about every little detail in each of my records and I hope they can hear that in my music.”

“Supo Amar” was featured on MKY’s EP “Perdón,” which was released in April, and is also the first cut from the young singer and songwriter’s upcoming debut album, which is set to drop this fall. “You can expect a lot more R&B en español!” MKY revealed about his new project. “More great melodies, real vocals and soulful guitar chords! Stay in touch because I have a lot more music coming!”

Stream “Perdón” below and look out for more from MKY coming soon.
