Multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Sam Ravenna speaks to the complexity of the human soul with his glistening modern soul.

The California-born artist just dropped his new album Fragile, the follow up to his funk-filled self-titled debut release. On this album, Ravenna is accompanied by a super sharp band consisting of members of Turkuaz, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Odesza live band and more. Incorporating a variety of sounds—from the timeless echoes of Motown to the thought-provoking rhythms of experimental jazz—Fragile was recorded in Lake Tahoe and enchants and delights while exploring an intense theme: the fragility and fluid nature of life.

Tracks like the old school love song and opening track “U GIVE ME SUMTHIN” and “Where I’m Coming From” show off Sam’s effortlessly smooth vocals as they glide over delicious melodies. Songs like “Human Condition” and “Fragile” give a taste of experimental instrumentals.

The album also features the lead single and silky jam “I Like It Here.” “It is less of a ‘love song’ and more of a ‘like song’,” Ravenna says. “It’s about first meeting someone that you connect with, not wanting to get in this person’s way, or jumping to conclusions but being open to the possibilities of a closer relationship.”

Ravenna just wrapped up an extensive US tour, which included stops in NYC and Washington, D.C. Stream Fragile now on Spotify.
