Héctor Luis Alvarado Ortiz, aka Towy, approaches his craft with refined precision and inspiring discipline, and he’s creating a larger-than-life sound that is soon to excite listeners all over the world.

Born in Puerto Rico, Towy began his career as a DJ, spinning records all over Bayamón while he studied business administration at the city’s branch of the University of Puerto Rico. He quickly realized that his true dream was to become an artist and from there he set his sights high, assuming a role as a vocalist for now global icon Ozuna, who at the time was just at the start of his own illustrious career.

Carrying his childhood nickname with him to stardom, Towy made his solo debut in 2017 with the single “Dentro De Tu Piel,” which put him on the radar of listeners across Latin America and led him to participate in the Chilean Trap Festival. Three years later, the rising sensation is coming in hot once again with the release of brand new music that places him at the head of the Latin urban scene as its next radiant luminary.

Towy recently released his latest single “DEMBOW,” a tribute to the Jamaican-born genre of the same name. With a cleverly self-descriptive title, the song is his first exploration into the hard-hitting yet seductive style that has hypnotized millions of fans around the Caribbean, Europe, and the United States. “My new single ‘DEMBOW’ came out of looking for a concept in which I could let myself get carried away because in the dembow genre there isn’t a song called ‘Dembow,’” he explained to Musical Notes Global, “so I wanted to tackle that point, leaving clear that I love dembow and that I want to keep making that style of music.”

With “DEMBOW,” Towy offers a fresh flavor by uniting the genre’s root influences of reggae with the rhythms of his island, universal rap, and the unique urgent style of Dominican artist Kiko El Crazy, a leader in dembow. “I got Kiko involved because I’ve been following the dembow genre for quite a while, and I was wanting to make a song with one of the most relevant artists right now,” he revealed, “and Kiko caught my attention. I presented the project to him, he liked it, and we created it.”

The anthemic, high-energy single was released along with a dynamic music video, which has accumulated more than 2.4 million views to date. Oozing with vibrant colors and featuring an inclusive team of beautiful dancers of all shapes and sizes, the video transports viewers to the DR, where the song’s throbbing beats fuel an epic street party, bringing the whole neighborhood to life. “The video was a great experience,” Towy said. “We made it in Villa Consuelo, Dominican Republic, using their dance, their neighborhood, and letting everyone feel the potential of what dembow is.”

“DEMBOW” is just the tip of the iceberg for Towy, whose vocal versatility and songwriting has helped him carve out his own niche in today’s Latin market. “For me this song represents the beginning of big things,” he said about the song. “Within the genre, as well as in my career, it’s the beginning of a new wave of music that I will create and also represents a redemption of Towy as an artist.”
