Venezuelan singer and songwriter Elena Rose is on track to becoming the next sensation in Latin urban music, but even though she’s just only made her official debut as a solo artist, listeners may already be familiar with her work.

Approaching her craft with the insight of a storyteller and the natural sensitivity of a true poet, over the last few years, Rose, who channels the seductive glamor of American pop culture icon Marilyn Monroe, has been working hard behind the scenes as a songwriter, co-penning hits for Latin music superstars including Rauw Alejandro (“Tattoo”), Becky G (“Dollar”), and CNCO (“La Ley”).

On Friday, the Miami-born starlet released her debut single “Sandunga.” Written and produced by the artist herself along with Honeyboos, the song is an irresistibly vibrant anthem that encourages listeners everywhere to let loose and have fun.

“Sandunga” was also released along with a retro-themed music video, which was filmed in Los Angeles under the direction of Galore magazine editors Prince and Jacob. Amidst backdrops that include a colorful kitchen and a luxurious bedroom, Rose challenges the idea of gender roles as she does chores around the house while preparing for a night out, presenting the same confidence and sense of freedom that she set forth in the single.
