U.K.-born, Nova Scotia-raised pop sensation T. Thomason never fails to deliver honest songs that hit listeners right in the feels, yet he has a remarkable ability to brighten the heaviest of themes through wonderfully catchy arrangements.

At the end of May, Thomason released his latest dark pop masterpiece, “Loser Pt. II” featuring fellow Nova Scotian Ria Mae. The song forms part of The Part 2 Project, which continues the story set forth in his 2019 self-titled album.

The talented singer and songwriter recently took Musical Notes Global behind the scenes of “Loser Pt. II” and revealed some super cool details about the making of the lyric video. Check ‘em out below!

1. The Loser Pt. II lyric video was cut from only 11 minutes of footage!! Ria and I did a photoshoot with Katherine Kwan, who has done lots of photo/video work for both of us before, and we took some short video clips just in case we wanted them to share on socials or to use as canvases on Spotify. We were planning on doing some performance videos together and then COVID hit! Katherine used what she had to make the lyric video and I think she did an incredible job. Sometimes those really tight limitations will push you into a whole new concept!

2. We filmed this in Ria's garage! It was February and we had a space heater and a projector to make some magic haha. Who needs a big studio??

3. The illustrations in the lyric video were done by Megan Green at Abracazebra Productions in Halifax, NS. Megan did all the artwork design and illustrations for my album cover lyric booklet, and each of the Part II Project single covers. I'm a huge fan of her work, and it is so cool to see it animated and worked into this video!!

4. The video was styled by David Cash, who I met through Instagram. Cash is an incredibly talented stylist, photographer, director, content creator, and all round creative director. They've worked with all kinds of rad folks from Roy Woods, to Brendan Jordan, to Stef Sanjati. I'm really excited to keep working with Cash. It's the first collab that's come together for me via DMs!

5. Misty Fox did hair and makeup for the shoot (well... Ria's hair, let's be real - I don't have much to work with lol), and it was so special to have her on the set. Misty did HMU for me on one of my old projects. Through that we became pretty tight and I used to do a lot of babysitting for her back in the day. We hadn't seen each other in a few years, and in that time she'd worked with Ria a bunch. It felt full circle to have her on this shoot, bringing together so many mutual connections and bringing a project to life that I am so proud of with folks I have known and loved for so long.
