Albums We Love: Io Canto (2006)-Laura Pausini

Our Favorite Songs: "Io canto," "Scrivimi," "Il mio canto libero" (feat. Juanes), "Due," "Stella Gemella"

Why We Love It: Io Canto comes to us from an Italian singer that we absolutely adore. As many of you might know, Laura Pausini is not only a superstar among her Italian audience, but she is also equally as popular, or even more so, in the Spanish music market.

Fittingly, Io Canto was also recorded in Spanish and released as Yo Canto. And uniquely, the chart-topping title track was released as a semi-French version "Je chante".

One of our favorite tracks, and definitely one of the album's standouts, is "Il mio canto libero." Featuring Colombian singer/songwriter/guitarist Juanes, it features each artist singing in their respective native languages, but what we especially love is that Laura sings in both languages on the same track!

The 16 songs featured on the album are all covers of Italian hits. Written and composed by legends such as Eros Ramazzotti and Zucchero, each song is deeply meaningful to Pausini. The passion she has for these songs brilliantly shines through, perhaps making us love them just as much as we can only imagine she might.

Io Canto has sold more than 3 million copies all over the world. Be sure to check it out!
